Coming up this weekend at Macoskey Center

Our friends at the Robert A. Macoskey Center for Sustainability Education and Research at Slippery Rock University are offering two events of interest this weekend:

  • Friday, October 27, 6:30 – 8:30 PM: Halloween Interpretive Trail. This fun, educational event will feature a guided trail walk to various stations in the Center’s garden and forest to learn about the magical transformations of fall. Topics include leaves, monarch butterflies, bees, medicinal teas, fermented foods, and apple cider making. Bring a reusable cup for tasting and comfortable shoes for walking. Parking is at the Storm Harbor Equestrian Center (ADA accessible parking at the Macoskey Center). A student guide will meet you near the parking lot and lead you on an exciting journey. The event is free and open to the SRU and surrounding community, but we will be collecting donations to support future programming at the Center (suggested donation $2/person). Family-friendly and non-scary.
  • Saturday, October 28, 10 AM – 3 PM: Mushroom growing workshop with local grower, Jesse Allen. Free for SRU students, 25$ fee for others. Includes lunch. RSVP requested, but walk-ins also are welcome!
