Food Justice Series Planned at Slippery Rock University

The Robert A. Macoskey Center for Sustainable Systems Education and Research at Slippery Rock University will host a series of presentations and workshops this fall related to issues of food justice. Topics, dates, and other details appear below. Community members are welcome to attend these events. Registration/RSVP not required. September 24th @ 7 PM – Wellness, Food Security, and Identity: Creating a More Just Food System

This year’s speaker is Sophia Buggs, proprietor and operator of Lady Buggs Farm in Youngstown, OH. Sophia’s mission is to reclaim the sacred roots of farming through sustainable spiritual living, and to revitalize her community by offering wellbeing from seed to table. Just Eat It: A Food Waste Story is a documentary about food waste in agriculture, retail stores, and in people’s own refrigerators. This event is co-hosted by the Macoskey Center and the Women’s Center at Slippery Rock University as part of the “Women and the Environment” film series.
