Solar Energy Presentation February 24th

Join Sustainable Slippery Rock for a presentation by Greg Winks, Solar Energy Consultant for SolarCity, on Friday, February 24th, 7:00 PM at the Ginger Hill Unitarian Universalist Congregation’s building* in Slippery Rock. The presentation will cover the state of the solar industry in the U.S. and in Pennsylvania; how solar energy works; why someone would choose to “go solar”; financing options; and the timeline for converting to solar energy. This will be an informative presentation, not a sales pitch for any particular company or product.

Mr. Winks’ background includes educational outreach related to solar energy, assistance to homeowners, and consulting with commercial, municipal and institutional organizations in order to incorporate solar options into their long-term energy strategies. SolarCity is a “national leader in clean energy services, working toward efficient and affordable solar solutions for homeowners, businesses, schools and government organizations.

“Speaking of Climate Change”…at Jennings

“Speaking of Climate Change….”
Sunday, February 12, 2:00 – 4:00 PM at Jennings Environmental Education Center
Climate change—it is an issue that can be complex, overwhelming, alarming, and sometimes divisive, perhaps causing us to shy away from talking about it or taking action. We invite you to increase your own understanding of climate change science, develop your skills in sorting through the myriad of messages you hear, and build your confidence in discussing this issue with others. This program will include brief presentations by experienced panelists and will acquaint you with opportunities for further learning and action. Panelists will include Dr. Julie Snow and Dr. Shawn Davis of Slippery Rock University, who will provide an overview of key concepts and effective ways of communicating messages about earth’s changing climate. Representatives of 350 Pittsburgh and Citizens Climate Lobby also will be on hand to provide information and answer questions. Registration is not required for this free, public program.
